Living Members of God's Holy Family (September 2003)

I have truly been overwhelmed with the love, support, and encouragement that you all have shown my family and me during this journey towards ordination. The ordination and beautiful luncheon was arranged with such thoughtfulness and care.

I want to extend my gratitude to all who contributed. Everyone did a fantastic job and those who attended reaped the fruits of your hard work!

I have received many phone calls and comments about how people were touched at the Liturgy. Many told me they were taken to another space, a holy space, a sacred place. The thunderous prayerful responses sung by all impacted the hearts and lives of many. I believe the Holy Spirit was truly present, helping crack our hearts open as God spoke to us in a special way.

I am confident that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us as we give glory to God. And as we continue to grow into one body in Christ, let us consider personalizing our mission statement "to grow together like the saints, to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ."

Our church invites us to be 'living' members of God's Holy family participating in the daily life of the church.

Our church invites to be a model of Jesus' character; becoming like Christ, growing in spiritual maturity. "Set an example for believers in speech, in life in love in faith and in purity" 1 Tim 4:12

Our church invites us to be a part of the Royal Priesthood. "Use whatever gifts you have received to serve others faithfully administering God's grace." 1 Peter 4:10

And finally, our church invites us to be messengers of His love. "Make love your aim and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts." 1 Corinthians 12:1.

This month, please try to create a place for prayer, a time of quiet so you can listen to our loving Lord. It is an honor and privilege to serve as your priest. May we continue to grow together to know, love and serve Jesus Christ.
