Chant Stand & Choir

The music for services at Holy Apostles is completely a cappella and is offered by the choir and cantors at the chant stand and also, for many of our prayers and hymns, by the congregation. As a Greek Orthodox Church, we chant primarily in the ancient, Byzantine style, while also incorporating hymns from varied Eastern Orthodox musical traditions.

Cantors lead the faithful in singing responses and hymns during services, while readers chant prayers, psalms, and epistles. Weekly rehearsals prepare singers for Sunday liturgies and special services. While the ability to read music is helpful, no prior musical experience is required, just a desire to serve God through sacred music.
