Today the Orthodox Church commemorates St. Nektarios of Aegina, a 20th-century wonder-worker and one of our most beloved modern saints. Born in 1846, St. Nektarios served as Metropolitan of Pentapolis before establishing Holy Trinity Monastery on Aegina. Known for his humility in the face of persecution and his countless miracles of healing, he fell asleep in the Lord in 1920 and was canonized in 1961.
