PARISH VOICES
Parish Voices brings together the writing life of Holy Apostles in three streams. From Our Priest gathers pastoral reflections from Fr. Tom. Community Reflections features personal essays from lay voices across the parish on various aspects of Orthodox Christian life. Parish Life is a casual chronicle of our community and the rhythm of life at Holy Apostles.

Come Worship the God Who Gives Us Life!
As we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Apostles, we honor those ordinary men whose lives were forever transformed by an extraordinary encounter with Jesus Christ. Having come to know the risen Lord, they left behind everything to proclaim not merely a set of teachings, but a living relationship with the One who is "the way, the truth, and the life." Their witness reminds us that Christianity is far more than a philosophy or a private spirituality; it is an invitation to know,

Courage in Seasons of Change
Every year around this time, I notice a familiar pattern at work. Annual review season shows up, and people start asking the same questions underneath the formal conversations. Things like: Am I doing okay? Am I growing? What's coming next?
They aren't really work questions — they're human questions. They show up whenever life shifts, whether we want it to or not.
These questions follow us everywhere. They show up in our families, our routines, and our decisions. They show

Throwback Thursday: The Messenger, June 2006
Our series looking back twenty years enters its sixth month. Last month I shared the May 2006 issue of The Messenger, the parish catching its breath after its very first Pascha in the new Shoreline building. June is when our heroes finally get to throw a party.
The front page of the June 2006 issue looks toward the parish's name-day: the Holy Apostles Feast Day Celebration. Vespers on Thursday, June 29, with dessert and coffee to follow, then Orthros and Divine Liturgy on Fr

Truth. Justice. Whatever.
I recently saw the movie "The Sheep Detectives," and thoroughly enjoyed it. As I was leaving the theater, I saw a movie poster with the tagline, "Truth. Justice. Whatever." written at the bottom. This is for the upcoming film, "Supergirl," and the tagline is a nod to the old Superman phrase, "Truth, justice, and the American way." I keep thinking about that "Whatever," line. It certainly expresses a youthful angst and a rebellious disillusionment with the world. The image on

Pentecost for Frozen Hearts
Do you remember James Taylor's hit song from the nineties, "The Frozen Man"? The song was inspired by an article Taylor had read in National Geographic about the discovery of a frozen man, a New Englander who perished in the nineteenth century.
There is a haunting moment in the song where the frozen man asks an angel of mercy whether he is alive or dead. The song ends with these words: "I know what it means to freeze to death; to lose a little life with every breath, to say

Ministry Spotlight: Nourishing Network
In just a few days, Holy Apostles volunteers will show up at the lunch room of Edmonds Heights, a local school, and pack weekend meal kits for around 200 kids. These kits provide food to children who are often without a reliable place to call home. Without them, the kids would go hungry when school meals aren't available.

Are We Entering a New Resurrection?
When we look at the world around us, it's easy to feel like everything is splitting apart. Institutions we once trusted feel unsteady. Technology is changing faster than our hearts can keep up with. Even our own inner lives feel stretched thin, as if the familiar structures we relied on are cracking.
I've felt a lot of this in my own life lately. Most days the pace of change is faster than I can absorb. Things I thought were stable have shifted. Routines I depended on have be
