From the Treasurer: Quarterly Financial Report (2026 Q2)

One of the funny things about writing a retrospective is stepping back into my memories to think about what’s been going on over the past few months. This quarter’s Treasurer Update includes Pascha! Here it is early August and I can hardly believe that Pascha was less than four months ago…it feels more like a year!
But to settle down to the numbers.
On the giving side:
April was the wrap-up of the Paschal season which always sees a bump in giving: attendance increases and people are moved to extra generosity. It is also one of two times of the year (the other being Christmas) that we get the bulk of contributions from folks who prefer a once-a-year tithe.
On the other hand, June follows a pretty familiar pattern: contributions drop over the summer, right in line with attendance, as people go on vacation, shift into different routines, and generally do what people do during summer!
Overall we are still tracking at 114% of the stewardship target I’d shared in November. I love the results but hope that when folks start returning it starts to move back up again.
On the other side of the ledger, here’s where our expenses are tracking:
April and May were all almost exactly the same — there was a $33 difference between the two — and very close to what March was. This gives a pretty good idea of what our core “baseline” expenses are.
June is a different story. Our June expenses were $4,500 less than the prior two months. What’s the deal there? As with so much that's happening around Holy Apostles, the numbers feel the impact of the building project! The shrinking footprint of space and activity as the remodel has moved along means less space to light, less space to heat, suspended coffee hours, no in-house ministry events: all mean lower utility costs and lower supply costs. And I think we’ve finally seen the last of those space heaters!
Taken together, our aggregate expenses for the year are at 101% of target and trending down. I hope that trend continues as we start to reap the benefits of newer and more efficient systems in our new space!
That's all for this quarter. I admit my mind has been so focused on the challenges and the opportunities of the rest of 2026 that coming back to events from even a month or two ago feels like a challenge!
May you have a blessed summer!
