ORTHODOX TEACHINGS

We have seen the true light, we have received the heavenly Spirit, we have found the true faith, worshipping the undivided Trinity, who has saved us.

From the Divine Liturgy

The Orthodox Christian faith confesses one God in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, eternally united in perfect love. The mystery of the Trinity is the center from which everything else flows: God is a communion of Persons, and the human beings made in His image are made for the same pattern of life.

We know God as both transcendent and immanent. He is greater than all creation, yet intimately present within it. As Creator, He brings all things into being from nothing and sustains them through His divine love and energy.

In Jesus Christ, we encounter the fullness of both divine and human nature. Born of the Virgin Mary, the Son took on our nature without ceasing to be God. Through His death and resurrection, He opened the way for human persons to be restored to the communion for which we were made. His life reveals both who God is and who we are called to become.

The Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father, gives life to all creation and makes Christ present in the Church. Through the Spirit's work, we receive the grace to grow in holiness and discover a deeper relationship with the living God.

The Church is the Body of Christ, the living community in which this restoration takes place. Through the Holy Mysteries, the prayers of the faithful, and the witness of the saints, we are gathered into the life of God's Kingdom.
