Today the Orthodox Church commemorates St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra. This feast celebrates the life of St. Nicholas, known for his generosity, piety, and miracles. Because of St. Nicholas' generosity, he became the inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus figure, but there is much more to the real life of this beloved saint! You obtained thus through being lowly, gifts from on high, and riches through poverty. Nicholas, our father and priest of priests, intercede with Christ our God that He may save our souls.
