Today the Orthodox Church commemorates the Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Forty days after His glorious Resurrection, Christ ascended into heaven from the Mount of Olives, blessing His disciples and promising the coming of the Holy Spirit. This feast marks the completion of Christ's earthly ministry and His glorification at the right hand of the Father.
