About The Event
Festal Orthros: Entrance of the Theotokos: 8:30 – 9:30am
Festal Divine Liturgy: Entrance of the Theotokos: 9:30 – 11:00am
The Orthodox Church commemorates the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple, one of the Twelve Great Feasts. This feast celebrates the dedication of the Virgin Mary to God at a young age, when her parents, Joachim and Anna, presented her to the Temple in Jerusalem. It prefigures Mary's role as the living temple who would later bear Christ, the Incarnate God.
Apolytikion of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple
Today is the prelude of God's pleasure and the proclamation of man's salvation. The Virgin is clearly made manifest in the temple of God and foretells Christ to all. Let us also cry out to her with mighty voice, "Hail, fulfillment of the Creator's dispensation."
