On the eve of the Feast of the Transfiguration we celebrate Great Vespers. We stand with the Apostles on Mount Tabor, where our Lord appeared in His divine glory before Sts. Peter, James, and John. Moses and Elijah stood beside Him, and the voice of the Father was heard from the cloud: "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

Grave Tone

You were transfigured on the Mount, Christ God revealing Your glory to Your disciples, insofar as they could comprehend. Illuminate us sinners also with Your everlasting light, through the intercessions of the Theotokos. Giver of light, glory to You.
