Josh Ensley
Vice President
Josh Ensley brings a unique blend of pastoral care and psychological insight to his role as vice president of the parish council at Holy Apostles. Raised on a wheat farm in the Palouse region of Eastern Washington, Josh's journey to Orthodoxy began in Baptist traditions and led him through Protestant seminary before discovering the ancient faith he now calls home. He has been a devoted member of Holy Apostles since 2013.
Josh holds a BA in pastoral studies from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and an MA in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. He also completed the theology diploma program from Great Martyr Euphemia Orthodox Theological Academy. Currently working as an individual and family counselor in south King County where he lives with his family, Josh is passionate about the intersection of Scripture, church history, and the healing traditions of both psychology and the church. His patron saint, St. Luke the Evangelist, shares Josh's birthday—a fitting connection!
Throughout his years at Holy Apostles, Josh has served the parish community in numerous capacities: leading the Wednesday Bible study group, teaching in the Oasis program for youth and adults, serving as a chanter, and facilitating marriage workshops. In 2019, he traveled to San Diego to lead a clergy couples marriage enrichment weekend, demonstrating his commitment to strengthening marriages within the Orthodox community.
What excites Josh most about serving on the parish council is the same thing that draws him to Holy Apostles itself: through the sacrificial love of Presbytera Pat and Father Tom, this church home has become a true church family. Josh believes that while every family faces struggles, they are called to be places of safety and healing for one another. This is an invitation and honor he embraces wholeheartedly in his service to the parish.
